About the work
Curving no.1 is a quiet, controlled study of line and repetition.
Drawn using silver pencil, the work is built through a sequence of gently arcing lines that move evenly across the surface. At first it reads as uniform, but small variations in spacing and pressure introduce a subtle shift in rhythm.
The curvature is held consistently across the page, creating a shallow, almost architectural sweep. There’s a sense of tension between the precision of the system and the softness of the hand that made it.
There is no focal point. The eye moves steadily from edge to edge, following the line as it repeats and slightly adjusts. The surface remains open and calm, relying on balance rather than contrast.
Like the other works in the series, it asks for a slower reading. Its strength sits in restraint, where minimal change carries the whole composition.
