About the work

Curving no.2 is a quiet, controlled study of line and repetition.

Made using silver pencil on paper, the work builds through a series of lightly drawn arcs that move across the surface with subtle variation. Each line is consistent in intent, but never identical. Small shifts in pressure and spacing create a gentle rhythm rather than a rigid pattern.

There’s a sense of restraint throughout. The composition is minimal, but not static. The lines suggest movement, almost like a held gesture, suspended rather than completed.

The use of silverpoint brings a particular quality to the surface. The marks sit lightly at first, but will gradually deepen over time as the material oxidises, allowing the work to evolve slowly.

There’s no central focal point. Instead, the eye follows the curve, moving across the paper in a continuous, measured flow.

It’s a work that relies on precision and sensitivity. Less about expression, more about control, balance and the space between each mark.

Wine pairing
