RICHARD WHADCOCK

Richard Whadcock’s work is built through slow, layered glazes of oil, allowing colour and light to emerge from within the surface. Rather than describing a scene, the paintings hold an atmosphere, with depth formed through accumulation and restraint.

There’s a suggestion of landscape, but nothing fixed. Horizons appear and dissolve, with light acting as the underlying structure, revealing itself gradually over time.
