FINN HOPSON

Finn Hopson is a Brighton-based photographer whose work is shaped by a deep connection to the landscapes of Sussex. Through repeated visits to the same places over many years, he has developed a distinctive visual language that explores pattern, light, seasonality and our relationship with the natural world.

Rather than seeking dramatic moments, Hopson's photographs often focus on quieter observations: subtle changes in weather, shifting light across a hillside, or the intricate textures and rhythms that emerge through careful attention. His work invites viewers to slow down and look more closely at the landscapes that surround them.

In 2014, Finn founded Brighton Photography Gallery, and his photographs have been exhibited widely as well as featured in publications and campaigns around the world. His books Fieldwork (2022) and Woodwork (2024) further explore his long-term engagement with the South Downs, documenting the character, patterns and seasonal changes of this unique landscape.

For Earth Matters, Hopson presents a special edition photographic print alongside selections from Fieldwork and Woodwork.
