About the work
Seed Count reflects Christina Fedyk’s ongoing interest in gardening, explored through repetition and structure.
Working with oil-based ink on paper, the surface is built through a sequence of repeated, rounded forms arranged in a loose grid. Each mark is similar in shape, but never identical. Variations in pressure and density give the work a subtle rhythm, preventing the pattern from becoming rigid.
There is a balance between order and irregularity. The grid suggests a system, but small shifts in spacing and alignment keep the composition active. Like cultivation, the work sits between control and natural variation.
What remains is a surface that feels both structured and responsive, where repetition becomes a way of holding movement rather than fixing it.
